Gecko’s sound !
Geckos are lizards belonging to the infraorder Gekkota, found in warm climates throughout the world.
Geckos are unique among lizards in their vocalizations. Almost every night, from Indonesia to Laos, we heard this nice sound just before the sunset.
Not so easy to catch, the sound of Geckos is one of our favorite sounds of nature in south east Asia!
Sunday market in Thailand
Every Sunday afternoon, on the side of the road, a market offers a lot of different things: Food of course and clothes, kitchen staffs and there are plenty of animations for kids.
Sellers use lound speaker and all sounds produce a mixture in a funny and nice atmosphere.
Watching the Thai boxe on TV
In a small village, south of Thailand, all the community is watching TV. Men bet money while women care of food and children…every body is having good time.
Loy Krathong song
Three girls, three voices to sing this traditional song in Thailand.
Loi Krathong song is part of the tradition of the festival dedicated to celebrate the water spirit. The festival takes place on the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar, whitch is for westerners in November.
Donation for the temple in Thailand
Somewhere in the north of Thailand, near the Thaton river a monk community expects for donation for the temple. They speak with people on the side of the road with huge speakers playing music and many religious symbols for sell and of course donation boxes aswell.
Under the thai sun, while we were walking towards the tents we enjoy listening to this music.
Chao Phraya Express Boat
A lot of long Express boat sail on the Chao Phraya all the day. The driver move the boat with his helper. This man give order with a whistle
Khim music at Chatuchak market
The khim which has 42 strings is played with two flexible bamboo sticks with soft leather at the tips to produce the soft tone. It can be played by sitting down on the floor with the khim place on the floor or by sitting on a chair or standing. At the Chatuchak market, a young girl was playing by sitting in the middle of the crowd.
She offered us a never ending music moving the bamboo sticks so quickly but with such ability!beautiful time in this commercial area where Bangkok inhabitants and tourists enjoy tasting Thai food or shopping as it seems to be the first hobby in the capital city.
Liturgical chant in the heart of Bangkok
Wat Suthat Thepwararam is a Bouddhist temple. We followed the advices of a man living in Bangkok and went to discover this royal temple. It countains a picture of the Bouddha Phra Sri Sakyamuni.
We arrived at the end of the afternoon while a prayer is starting.
Ringing offerings next to Buddha
Wat Pho (วัด โพธิ์ Thai, Wat Po) is one of the largest and oldest Buddhist temples in Bangkok. Eight acres, the temple hosts a multitude of stupa and a huge Buddha (พระพุทธ ไสยาสน์). Lying on his deathbed close to nirvana, the statue is 45 meters long and 15 meters high. The feet are inlaid with pearls representing 108 states of the Buddha.
One building is dedicated to the statue, the flood of tourists is flowing without interruption to photograph the Buddha. 25 bols are arranged along the Buddha to collect the offerings of the faithful. The sound resounds in the bowls. We offer you a few minutes of this melody …
